BECOMING A PHOTOGRAPHER

Our 4th baby was a surprise! His upcoming arrival completely rocked the plan I had in mind for my life. It was one of the biggest transitions I have faced, I literally felt like my world had been turned upside- down, but I came to terms with having number 4 and I did ok when he was a baby. The older he got and I guess, the more challenging he became, the more I began to question my worth, my ability and whether this was truly God’s purpose for me?

Over and over again, I would question. I remember repeatedly sobbing into my husband’s arms, questioning my life and my value. I felt completely stuck. Unable to move forward, with no idea what to do. I kept asking…..”There must be something more…..I must be good at something…..I must have a purpose other than being a mum and wife…..I want to make a difference.”

Anyone who knows me, knows I am the biggest introvert around.

I am more than happy to be alone for days, sitting in my quiet and safe space. Why? Because it is easier. It is easier than pretending to be someone I am not. It is easier than trying to judge how people will feel/react towards me. It is easier to feel in control, this way. BUT. It is also not helping me to achieve any dreams, try anything new or work on my extreme anxiety. So, here is a little insight into what I have done and continue to work through to build my business.

1.Focus on the Interactions.

Perhaps the most important tip that I can give is this one. We all come to a session with expectations and pre-conceived ideas of how it will go. Whilst I will make very effort to capture the shot/s that you desire, your involvement will make all the difference. So here’s what I want you to do. Concentrate on interacting with and enjoying some downtime with your family. That’s it! Use this as a time that has been blocked out in your busy week, to spend some quality time together. Relax, play, run, laugh, tickle. All the things you usually do together. Believe me, these will make the best photos! That genuine connection and love that you share will shine through in the photos.t all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
