Extended Family Photoshoot The Annable Family.
So your Mum wants a big group photo?
Extended family photoshoots are filled with fun, laughter and a touch of chaos, but they are definitely worth the extra effort and co-ordination. It is heartwarming to watch a family come together, connect and interact with each other, which of course is the key to lifestyle photography ie. authentic, natural connections being captured. Almost everyone wants the most natural and unposed images possible and that is what I aim for. Always! I also know though, that Mum or Grandma would probably appreciate the images where most people are looking straight at the camera and smiling. (And it usually is Mum, the organiser, who has arranged the extended family photoshoot.) They love to put these photos in frames and send them off for gifts. So with this in mind I aim to capture a mix of both the posed (Grandma friendly photos) and natural, candid, silly images that will make your heart smile and are unique to your family.
The amazing Annable family had an extended family photoshoot at a stunning beach house in Huskisson NSW. We were fortunate to have perfect weather and sublime views which really added to the relaxed, laid back vibe of the session. This family are blessed to have included Great Nanna who is 95 years young, parents who have been married for 35 years and two brothers with their families. So there were plenty of beautiful, genuine connections on display. We began with a shot of Great Nanna and kept adding more and more family members until we reached the large family shot with everyone, with lots of candid moments of laughter in between. As with all families, the 4 gorgeous children often steal the show with their antics and personalities and this was no exception. It certainly is entertaining to see their uniqueness shine through in their images. Our session involved tree climbing, silly faces in an attempt to get the babies to smile, looking for crabs, beer drinking, frisbee throwing and a whole LOT of jokes and laughter. I can honestly say that I was made to feel so at ease and accepted throughout the afternoon which definitely made my job a whole lot easier and enjoyable. Check out the images below for a snapshot of the afternoon.
